Each Thursday a full period of the day is built into RIA’s schedule for students to receive mini-lessons, in English, about important topics in order to facilitate acclimation. Topics include: daylight savings time, important celebrations and traditions in America, the importance of wearing warm clothing, snow days, etc. Students who have been at RIA for more than a year can receive advisement during this time.
Although these topics are not a part of a formal curriculum, it is important information for students new to the United States receive. Topics can also be generated by student interest and/or inquiry.
