Mrs. Place
I began teaching at Montessori Academy School in 2014. As a Speech Language Pathologist at Montessori, I work with students in Preschool through 6th grade to develop their communication skills. My students receive support in a variety of areas, such as articulation, language, fluency (stuttering), alternative communication, and social language development. I also provide Foundations Language Enrichment lessons to all kindergarten and first grade students in their classrooms every week. This is a district-wide program that provides enrichment of basic concepts (e.g. above/below, near/far, wide/narrow, etc.) and phonological awareness (e.g. rhyming, identifying beginning sounds in words, etc.) for Kindergartners. First graders participate in lessons focused on language processing (e.g. similiaries/differences, multiple meaning words, antonyms/synonyms, etc.) and social language skills.
I enjoy reading and riding my horse, Beauty. I love spending time at the farm with my husband, our one-year-old daughter, and our dog, Stella.
"A career in speech-language pathology challenges you to use your intellect (the talents of your mind) in combination with your humanity (the gifts in your heart) to do meaningful work that feeds your soul... I am proud to be a member of what I consider the best profession on earth." - Megan Hodge
I am so grateful to be doing what I love while working with the wonderful students at Montessori Academy!
