Purpose of student council

  • Here for peers
  • Make a difference
  • Shake-it-up-get new people involved who normally don’t participate in representative roles
  • Connect different classes
  • Get more people involved
  • Stepping up
  • Responsible

 

***ANNOUNCEMENT***Update Action item sheet-look at document to see progress and upload progress. Can create new projects/tasks here. Place to go if you forget about your assignments or you want to direct other people to our current actions.

  • Waiting for Login Info for website
  • Page ready-need access
  • Siobhan and Aidan will help been, so we have underclassmen with knowledge
  • Calendar, meeting minutes, and suggestion forms will all go on website

 

Mix-it-up day

  • In January- half way through the year
  • Class- sit with someone new inside class
  • Break up cliques-work better with middle school
  • Engage in conversationsto get to know each other better
  • Should be cross grade
  • Crews- senior crews go to younger crews, etc.
  • 7th and 8th grade together-mix it up in one class
  • High school crews mix it up within high school

 

Spirit week

  • Do we have Extended crew wednesday before pep-rally
  • January 11 shirts in
  • Icis-posters for shirt announcement
  • Link for order website
  • Survey for spirit week days-online survey in english or social studies classes
  • Each grade gets a hallway
  • Time from admins to decorate halls
  • After school or come in on Saturday-1/26-Saturday School? Could we be let in?
  • Friday 1/25-only morning exam, could come in after to decorate
  • Friday of Spirit week-Basketball game
  • Homecoming dance-2/2
  • Start selling tickets January 7th - End January 18th
  • Advertising in December
  • $3 admissions
  • Sell snacks inside
  • Enright wants dance in Cafeteria-Talk/ask about gym

Designs for spirit week shirts-same design on front for all grades

Shirts delivered 2 weeks before Spirit week

How to get survey for shirts out-Paper ballot or electronic survey?

Design shirts in crew, personalize your shirt-Multiple days in crew

 

Student leadership Conference

  • Regular crowd
  • Students all over district
  • Different people each time, but one the same
  • Regular crowd by December
  • One constant person-try to get as many people as possible
  • Mrs. PB will figure out what Anthony Jordan wants

 

How we get into a groove/ what we want Student Council’s responsibilities to be

As student council, what do we want to do? What should we leave for other groups?

What is our niche?

Can’t do everything

Not all of Student Council, just those who want to help

Should Student Council delegate other groups?

We need to promote and facilitate participation amongst people not in Student Council

We need deadlines

We have to stay on top of things

Pep-rally - SWMM crew especially for the presentation. More hands for this would help

Pep-rally - Student council is the voice; idea generator

 

Other actions that need to be completed (somewhat pressing)

  • Constitution-written reference

-Set ideas in stone. What happens if…

  • Way for seniors to be remembered-current and alumni

-Statue, bench, leaving gift, i.e. symbol like ubuntu symbol that represents that class

  • Metro Justice
  • 12th grade advisory board-So far Avonnye is only applicant (Urgent)
