WOIS Student Council Meeting Minutes

September 12, 2018

 

7:32 9th grade elections:

  • See what is happening with candidates for the elections. Papers are due the 13th.
  • Go around to crews with a ballot box for the elections.
  • Get lists of kids in each crew so their is no cheating in the election.
  • Each 9th grader gets 4 votes for all the open slots.
  • This year we need to make sure that we have an attendance of every member of student council especially the new ones.
  • Students for the next election should get 3 signatures from teachers and a letter of recommendation from a teacher in years past.
  • Next time use the recommendation process for Pathfinder for the elections.

 

7:49 Student Council Website page:

 

  • Meet with the Webmaster of the website for our school(who is the third grade teacher)to get a student council page going (Ben Babcocks on the job)
  • Meet next week for the web page.

 

 

7:50 Mix it up Day October 23rd:

 

  • Goal is to change up the people you are normally with and meet someone new.
  • English class is where it should first be implemented.
  • Try to do this day more than once a year.
  • PB will share the idea with the department at their meeting after school.
  • Have more than student council make the questions. Have kids grades 6-12 help come up with ideas for the questions.
  • The meeting to make up the questions should be done the last week in September.

 

 

7:59 Spirit Week   (only ideas - Aidan & Jazmine)

  • Meme Day / Character Day
  • Decades Day (Do a specific decade) (Thursday)
  • Call it Homecoming Week instead of Spirit Week
  • The Homecoming Dance will be Saturday, February 2nd (corresponding to last Boys Varsity Basketball Game)
  • Wacky Tacky Wednesday
  • Jersey Day Monday
  • Versus Day - something like Marvel vs. D.C.
  • Glow in the Dark Pep Rally
  • Class fundraiser for each class for shirts ($5.00)
  • Lots of fundraisers for Spirit / Homecoming Week
  • There is a fundraiser committee (Get Students on it)
  • Get in on selling snacks like cookies for sports games
  • Mr. Visca to be teacher advisor for Spirit / Homecoming Week
  • Tyler DJ for Homecoming Dance
  • Clique Day (high school stereotypes)
  • Camo Day
  • Talk about 7th and 8th Grade Spirit Week
  • SWMM do pep rally with Visca
