At School No. 43, we instruct our students using the right materials and pacing to ensure student growth and success. At the start of the school year and end of each marking period, we assess our students using a variety of assessments to track student growth and to drive instruction. Using this data and teacher input, students are grouped and instructed reading according to their level. Regrouping students gives us the opportunity to work more intensively with our students during a 90 minute uninterrupted reading block. During the reading block, students may be instructed reading by another grade level teacher. These flexible groups will consist of purposeful instruction, guided practice, and ongoing assessment so students may progress into a higher reading group when they are ready.
