     Dear Parents,

Welcome to George Mather Forbes School #4! I am extremely excited that we are now partners in your child's education. Our District's Mission Statement is "Every child is a Masterpiece so create a work of Art!" The District's Vision Statement is that every child in the Rochester City School District receives a quality education and that we as partners prepare them to compete in a global economy. Your support is welcomed, appreciated, and required for the continuous success of your child/children.

This school year we have committed ourselves to several  new initiatives. To begin with, one of our goals is to increase student achievement in grades K-8 on report cards and formal and informal assessments by improving classroom instruction and providing our teachers with optimal and relevant Professional Development.

A second goal is to increase parent engagement through various school wide activities and events. We have introduced Class Do Jo school wide; which is an incredible digital classroom tool that helps teachers build amazing classroom communities with students and parents. With this device you as parents will have continuous communication with your child's classroom teacher, you will see how well your child is rated for citizenship throughout the day, and also be able to look at your child's/children homework assignments. In addition, teachers won't be interrupted during instruction, parents can leave messages for the teacher through this channel of communication.

Goal three is the improvement in student behavior and out of school suspensions. This Objective will be met through a series of support systems:our School Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports System, Classroom rituals and routines and classroom management systems, and our new School Wide Teams system. Our entire student body will be divided up into 4 teams that constitutes School 4's Vision Statement: Dream, Believe, Execute, 4 Results. Students K-8 will strategically be placed into these 4 teams that will include administrative and staff team's support with students. Our job is to encourage students to succeed academically, socially, and to help our students advocate positively for themselves and their peers. Student outcomes will include: a positive, improved work ethic, feeling of community, academic success and continuous improvements, positive peer/adult relationships, and an enriched school climate.

Parents as partners play a crucial role in the continuous success of our students. Your support is needed in the following areas:  ongoing communication and positive encouragement towards your child/children in the areas of academics and social behaviors. Please familiarize yourselves with parent Connect/Class Do Jo to help enhance our line of communication with your child/children teacher(s).  Your attendance at parent/Teacher Conferences is essential for student growth and monitoring. If you should have a concern about your child's academics or need support socially/emotionally for your child, please reach out to your child's teacher or administration so that we, as a team can work collaboratively to make the best decisions possible so that our students can achieve success.

Our Dream at School 4 is that all of our students succeed. We Believe in our students, parents, community partners, teachers, and administration to help make this dream possible to our students. We will Execute this mission by including all of partners, constant communication, continuous monitoring and interventions for our students, perseverance, tenacity, a change of mindsets, and change agents. Results, No Excuses!!! Failure is NOT an OPTION! "Let's have a positive, productive school year!"
