• We are incredibly pleased to have Primary Project here at School #34. Primary Project is a foundational program of the Children's Institute, which supports diversity in all children. This program has been a rich part of the Rochester City School District for many years.

    What is Primary Project?

Primary Project is a national, evidence-based program that has been remarkably successful in helping students create a solid foundation when entering elementary school. This program is designed for children in Pre-K through second grade, who may show early signs of school adjustment concern. This program supports the child-led play approach.

    The Value of Play

Play is essential for all children. It helps improve social and emotional well-being, while allowing them to express themselves utilizing different emotions. Play-based learning gives children a space where they can gain self-confidence, interact with others and build skills that can help them improve in the school learning environment.

    School #34's Playroom

Children will visit a vibrant playroom that contains a variety of expressive toys. Children will lead and choose activities through which they can freely express themselves. While engaging in play-based learning, there is a trained child associate available to facilitate, support and encourage each child. The playroom provides a fun, safe and engaging environment for students.

We are excited to have Primary Project at School #34 as a resource for our Pre-K through second grade students!
