Hi! Welcome to my page!
I am the vocal/general music teacher at Clara Barton School #2.
I have taught here for 25 years, and I still love it every day. I am so lucky that I get to make music with kids, and turn even my kindergartners into little musicians.
We have 2 different choirs here. The primary choir consists of grades 2 and 3. The intermediate choir consists of grades 4, 5, and 6. Both choirs will perform at 2 concerts every year. Once at the Winter Concert in December, and once at the Spring Concert in mid-June.
Kindergarteners will perform in June at Kindergarten Graduation.
Students in grades 3 - 6 will learn the recorder every year. Ask your child about recorder technique!
Every September, all students review the song America. Here are the lyrics -
My country 'tis of thee,
sweet land of liberty,
of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died,
land of the pilgrims' pride,
from every mountainside,
let freedom ring.
Every January, all students review The African American National Anthem, Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing. Here are the lyrics -
Lift ev'ry voice and sing,
'til earth and heaven ring,
ring with the harmonies of liberty.
Let our rejoicing rise,
high as the list'ning skies,
let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us,
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
let us march on 'til victory is won.
