School-Based Programs (6-8)

  • Many schools and programs have identified summer learning as a strategy to address unfinished learning. These schools have set aside specific funding from grant allocations to support summer learning. Schools provided well-thought out plans and rationale prior to approval to run a summer program.

    DAHY
    200 Students
    This particular program is designed to help students transition from the  elementary to middle school model by strengthening critical thinking skills in the core subject areas, as well as creating socio-emotional support systems.

    School 45
    150 Students
    The goals for this summer program is to close gaps for Tier 2 and 3 students entering grades 1-7 with a focus on reading, writing, and math, while providing early exposure to Regents content by rising eighth grade students.

    Franklin Lower School
    80 Students
    Provide Standards Based instruction in Math and ELA. Social Emotional Learning will be a major component.

    Schools will be registering students as needed.

East Receivership Commencement (6-8)

  • Instructional Design and Curriculum
    Students will participate in a four week program that will prepare them for the adjustment from the structure of elementary school, to the culture, expectations, and rigor of middle school.

Sports Camps (6-8)

  • The purpose of the RCSD summer sports camps is to immerse our current and future student-athletes in grades 5th through 7th in specific skill development in their chosen sport.  It can be a fun time for beginners to learn basic skills and strategies, develop friendships and teamwork, all while building a foundation for future sport success.  Each one-week session will include a swimming and track component, in addition to the student’s chosen sports opportunities.The best part of this camp is that it is FREE for RCSD students.

    ** Athletes can sign-up for one or more sessions, as each week offers three different sports. **

ROC Summer STEAM (6-8)

  • Students enrolled in the ROC Summer STEAM Program will engage in high-quality, hands-on instruction with a laser-like focus on  Math and Science. Teachers will be supported through daily professional learning from The New Teacher Project. All activities will be aligned with the current Next Generation Standards. Enrichment will be provided for all students utilizing an exciting Writing curriculum that includes animation, rap, and theater games.

Summer Language Academy

  • Students in this program will receive explicit instruction in reading comprehension, Science based academic language and content, and hands on learning with extensive home language support and scaffolds.

Career and Technical Education

  • Discover your passion while having fun at school. The CTE Summer 6th - 8th grade programs will introduce students to exciting careers such as TV productions, Carpentry, T-Shirt designing, and much more. Learn a new skill in hands-on project-based activities
