Useful Information For Entire The 2012-2013 Season:Location: Room 53Chess Club Advisor & Chess Team Coach: Dr. GreenClub Description: Chess is a fun game that incorporates many aspects of the IB learner profile: knowledgeable, inquirers, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective. The chess club is meant to foster scholar’s intellectual growth while having fun.Attendance Policy: Meetings will be held from 2:15-3:30pm. If you are going to pick up your scholar up after chess club, please be in the front bus loop at 3:30pm. If scholars will be taking one of 3:45pm late buses, they need to know the elementary school and the intersection closest to their house and whether they live on the east or west side of the city. Scholars acknowledge that family and academics take priority over chess club. Scholars will only attend meetings when they are in good academic standing and have no other previous commitments. Scholars are not required to attend all meetings to participate in the chess club; they can simply come when they wish. If attending, scholars must arrive on time and stay for the entire meeting, no late arrivals or early dismissals.
Expectations:Scholars are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with all school and district rules while participating in chess club. Parents/guardians are expected to ask their scholar about chess club activities and contact Dr. Green with any questions or concerns.
Team Competitions: Select scholars will be asked to represent Wilson Foundation Academy in competitive matches against other schools. There is a league fee for which the cost will be covered by the school, but the transportation must be provided by the parent/guardian.
