Prior to her current role as the Secondary School Principal of Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School (EMHCS), Christine Caluorie-Poles was part of the RCSD for 26 years, serving students and families in a variety of roles. She began her career at Frederick Douglass Middle School as a Spanish teacher and later moved to Thomas Jefferson High School, where she spent much of her career as a teacher, House Administrator, Academy Director, and ultimately, the Acting Principal for more than a year. Before leaving the District, she was the Principal of Roberto Clemente School No. 8.
Principal Caluorie-Poles is excited to return to the Rochester City School District and assume the role of Principal of the new RISE school—a student-centered community school of high expectations rooted in a race and culture conscious environment where all voices fuel inquiry and creativity. She looks forward to working with a team to create unique educational opportunities for children, with enrichment activities in the Arts and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) as part of their daily routine.
