RCSD Dynamic Leaders: Mary Andrecolich-Montesano Diaz, Principal, Rochester International Academy

(December 20, 2022) The Rochester City School District is fortunate to have dynamic leadership in all of its school buildings, and we are shining a bright spot on team members supporting students during the 2022 – 2023 school year.
Mary Andrecolich-Montesano Diaz is the founding Principal of Rochester International Academy (RIA), an award-winning program for students in grades K – 12 who are new to the United States and have little to no English acquisition.
“The RIA students and families that I serve excite and motivate me every day,” said Andrecolich-Montesano Diaz. “As a graduate of Franklin High School, I always wanted to give back to the RCSD. When I was afforded the opportunity to create RIA 12 years ago, it was a dream come true. I have the honor of leading and creating a safe, welcoming, culturally rich, and equitable education program for students new to the United States and our District.”
Andrecolich-Montesano Diaz is a 41-year employee of the RCSD. She was a Student Teacher at East High School and has been a Physical Education Teacher, a Coach, a Mentor Teacher, an Athletic Director, a House Administrator, an Assistant Principal, a Principal at Thomas Jefferson High School, and the founding Principal of RIA.
Please join us in applauding Ms. Andrecolich-Montesano Diaz for her fantastic work to help RCSD scholars succeed.
