RCSD Dynamic Leaders: Yajaira Nguyen – Principal, Enrico Fermi School No. 17
(October 7, 2022) The Rochester City School District is fortunate to have dynamic leadership in all of its school buildings, and we are shining a bright spot on team members supporting students during the 2022 – 23 school year.
Ms. Yajaira Nguyen is the Principal of Enrico Fermi School No. 17. She oversees students in PreK- 8 grades in a dual language community school servicing approximately 230 English Language Learners, which is over a third of the school’s population. The school has more than 10 community partnerships, which help deliver services to students and families. Nguyen herself is an RCSD graduate.
“I want to give back to the community that guided me when I was a student,” said Nguyen. “I am here to ensure all students receive equitable access to education and have mentors who know exactly where our students are coming from.”
Ms. Nguyen has been working in the District since 2008. A graduate of East High School’s TLI program, RCSD is home to her. She has served as a Special Education teacher, a bilingual Special Education teacher, a bilingual instructional coach, an Expanded Learning Time (ELT) coordinator, an English as a New Language (ENL) coach, a coordinating administrator of Special Education, and an assistant principal.
Please join us in applauding Ms. Nguyen for her fantastic work to help RCSD scholars succeed!
