RCSD Dynamic Leaders: Deborah Washington – Principal, Dr. Alice Holloway Young School of Excellence
(September 14, 2022) The Rochester City School District is fortunate to have dynamic leadership in all of its school buildings, and we are shining a bright spot on staff members supporting students during the 2022 – 23 school year.
Ms. Deborah Washington is the Principal of Dr. Alice Holloway Young School of Excellence. She oversees students in grades 7 – 8 in a school that offers the following:
- AVID program – a college and career readiness framework that supports students with executive function skills, such as note-taking and organization
- UnboundED framework – designs learning for educators where students experience grade-level, engaging, affirming, and meaningful instruction
- Urban League readiness program - includes academic and social-emotional support to students to prepare them for the transition into a successful high school career
Ms. Washington says she enjoys being in a leadership position within the District because of the opportunity to lead others. She wants to help students be academically and emotionally successful. “We have new students and new experiences this school year,” said Washington. “With God I can conquer anything!”
Ms. Washington has worked in the District for 24 years. She has been a teacher, a network team leader, an Assistant Principal, and a Principal.
Please join us in applauding Ms. Washington for her efforts to help RCSD scholars succeed!
