Free PSAT and SAT Exams Offered Right at School
(September 21, 2021) In an effort to provide equitable opportunities for scholars across the District, the Rochester City School District will be offering free PSAT and SAT exams for students in grades 10, 11, and 12. These exams will be provided at students’ respective schools during the school day on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.
The PSAT is a great way for students in grades 10 and 11 to practice and become familiar with the format of the SAT. It also connects them to the College Board’s scholarship partners, who offer more than $220 million annually in scholarships to qualified low-income and minority students.
The SAT is an admission test that is widely accepted by U.S. colleges. The SAT tests what students are learning in class and will use in college. Students in grade 12 will take the SAT, which is the best way to demonstrate the skills and knowledge that colleges care about.
Both the PSAT and SAT exams help open up scholarship opportunities for students and prepare them for college. Students who have early and frequent exposure to practice exams tend to fare better on these exams. Students can prepare for either exam by taking advantage of the free personalized practice tests on Khan Academy (https://www.khanacademy.org/sat).
