Annmarie Lehner Selected to Participate on Microsoft's K12 Advisory Board
September 12, 2018—Microsoft Corporation has selected Rochester City School District Chief Information Officer Annmarie Lehner to serve on Microsoft’s K12 Advisory Board. The Board includes approximately 30 members from across the United States, representing both large and small school districts.
The mission of the K12 Advisory Board is to gain insights from leaders in the K12/Hi-Ed community to influence Microsoft’s products and services roadmap, with the goal to empower both educators and students alike to achieve more. Through this Advisory Board, Microsoft will strive to provide an inside track to its members while developing stronger relationships and influence its strategic direction in K12/Hi-Ed education.
Ms. Lehner will serve on the K12 Advisory Board for at least a one-year term, with the potential to serve up to six years. As a Board member, she is committed to the following:
- Working together as trusted partners within the education community to discuss and address school technology challenges in order to foster deeper relationships
- Developing a forum to discuss educational challenges and how best to solve them with a focus on product solutions and pedagogy
- Advocating member priorities to Microsoft leadership
Ms. Lehner is leading the District’s digital transformation through the use of technology and modern classrooms, with a focus on professional development for both teachers and administrators. The Rochester City School District is transforming the environments in its schools with the goal of deepening students’ learning. From blog posts, video creation, 3D printing, robotics, app creation and more, students in grades Pre-K through 12 are using tools that will not only enhance their learning, but also prepare them with the 21st century skills needed for college and career success.
“As a recognized national leader in the field, Annmarie Lehner has implemented several innovative programs in the Rochester City School District, demonstrating outstanding leadership in utilizing technology to further student achievement,” said Superintendent Barbara Deane-Williams. “She is an effective communicator and team builder with the ability to collaborate with the various departments in the District as well as business and educational leaders.”
Most recently, Ms. Lehner received the 2018 Leader in Digital Education Award from the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS), which recognizes a SAANYS member who has demonstrated exceptional, creative leadership in harnessing the potential of technology to further teaching and student achievement.
