Math and Movement Family Fun Night and Lowes Grant
May 12, 2017—On Thursday, May 11, World of Inquiry School No. 58 hosted a Math and Movement Family Fun Night for the families of students in grades kindergarten through six. Math and Movement is a kinesthetic, multi-sensory approach to teaching math by incorporating exercise, stretching, movement and visual floor mats. The games allow students to jump, have fun and study math concepts. To top the night off, Suzy Koontz, creator of Math and Movement, stopped in for a surprise visit, even leading the children in several activates. The Math and Movement night was held in conjunction with World of Inquiry receiving a Lowes Grant for $5,000. This grant will help the school purchase their own kinesthetic math and literacy mats that can be used throughout the year.
