Flower City School No. 54 Instructional Coach Receives Golden Apple Award

(November 3, 2025) The Rochester City School District proudly congratulates Mark Wylie, an instructional coach at The Flower City School No. 54, on receiving the Golden Apple Award from News 8. This honor recognizes his dedication, collaborative spirit, and commitment to student success throughout his 29 years in the District.

Mr. Wylie, who works closely with both students and staff, says his favorite part of the job is “the people when we come together. The staff and the students and we work together and collaborate to have students succeed.”

“He does such amazing work and spends countless amounts of hours getting work done for our students and staff,” said Demitria Lawton-Greggs, Principal of Flower City School No. 54, who nominated Mr. Wylie for the award. “Being an educator is hard work, but Mr. Wylie does it with a smile on his face. He is always willing to help whenever he is needed.”

Reflecting on his journey in education, Mr. Wylie shared, “When I went to college, people said I would be good at teaching.”  Today, as a valued member of School No. 54, his impact is felt by everyone in the building.

“Our students and staff love him, and we truly appreciate everything he does,” said Lawton-Greggs.

The District celebrates Mr. Wylie’s well-deserved recognition and thanks him for his dedication to students and staff.  Congratulations, Mr. Wylie.
