RCSD Unified Flag Football Athletes Visit Highmark Stadium for a Night with the Buffalo Bills

(October 16, 2025) Students from the Rochester City School District’s Unified Flag Football teams recently experienced an unforgettable evening at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, where they had the chance to meet and interact with players from the Buffalo Bills.

Unified Flag Football athletes from East, Edison, Monroe, and Wilson were invited to take part in this special event, which celebrated teamwork, inclusion, and athletic excellence. The Buffalo Bills are proud sponsors of the District’s Unified Sports program, supporting opportunities that bring students together through inclusive competition.

RCSD schools are also the only ones in Section V to offer Unified Flag Football, an achievement that reflects the District’s commitment to providing athletic experiences for all students.

Unified Sports is a partnership between Special Olympics New York and the New York State Public High School Athletic Association. The program brings together students with intellectual disabilities (players) and students without intellectual disabilities (partners) to form inclusive teams that train and compete alongside each other.

“This is what sports are all about, students coming together, supporting each other, and showing what true teamwork looks like,” said Camaron Johnson, Executive Director of Health, Physical Education, and Athletics for the Rochester City School District. “The Buffalo Bills’ support means so much to our athletes, and experiences like this create memories that will last a lifetime.”

The District’s Unified Flag Football teams have competed in a four-week season this fall, with their final games taking place on Monday at Monroe High School beginning at 4:45 p.m.
