With Focus on Student Success, Dr. Eric Jay Rosser Begins as RCSD Superintendent
(July 1, 2025) Dr. Eric Jay Rosser officially began his tenure as Superintendent of the Rochester City School District today by joining educators at the 2025 Teacher Summit held at James Monroe High School. During the day’s events, Dr. Rosser delivered welcoming remarks that honored educators as the foundation of the District’s future, emphasizing their essential role in helping students thrive and delivering on the promise that education is a civil right for every child.
“My commitment to you as your new Superintendent is simple,” said Dr. Rosser. “I will listen, lead with integrity, and collaborate, standing shoulder to shoulder with you to maximize the potential of every Rochester City School District student.”
In his remarks, Dr. Rosser acknowledged the challenges facing public education today, locally and nationally, while encouraging educators to see those challenges as opportunities to improve, unite, and fulfill the District’s shared mission. He stressed the importance of supporting teachers and staff, reaffirming his commitment to building strong relationships across the school community.
“Over the next several months, you will get an understanding of who Eric Jay Rosser is, because I will be working very closely to make sure that the most important individuals in a school district, who are educators, are supported to be able to meet the needs of our children.”
Looking ahead, Dr. Rosser emphasized his vision for a District where every child’s dreams are activated and every learner’s potential is unlocked. Over his first 100 days, he will focus on listening, learning, and aligning District actions with its strategic plan, elevating instructional quality, engaging deeply with students, families, staff, and partners, and strengthening a student-centered culture throughout Rochester.
