About Student Placement 
    Student Placement oversees the registration and placement of over 5,000 new students annually. The objectives of the Office is to provide equitable services to all families who need to transition their children from one school to another, or one program to another, and to work with over 25,000 families a year to minimize transitions and associated disruptions to the educational process.

    All registrations for children entering the Rochester City School District can be accomplished at the district’s Parent Information Center, located at 131 W. Broad Street. The Parent Information Center can be reached at (585) 262-8241.

    The Center is open:
    Monday through Friday
    8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    Parents of children who will be three years old or older by December 1st can register their children now for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. For PreK locations and more information, please visit our PreK website.

    Placement staff will assist parents with every step of the registration process. They can also provide parents with information about the schools available to their children to help them make an informed choice. Parents of children who speak a language other than English can arrange for a language assessment for their child by calling (585) 324-3220. The assessment will help determine the best placement for the student in an academic program.
