RCSD Seventh Graders Discover Possibilities at Future Fair

Hundreds of seventh-grade students from the Rochester City School District learned about a wide range of careers on Friday, February 6. Also, they connected with professionals working in fields they love.

The Future Fair, hosted by the Rochester Education Foundation and held at Monroe Community College, brought together 70 professionals from all walks of life to meet with students and serve as career role models. Participants included politicians, business leaders, educators, and more. The goal of the fair was to help students see what is possible for their future while providing inspiration, excitement, and hope.

“I love my job because I get to work with adults every day to provide meaningful academic, social, and emotional opportunities for our students to excel in school and in life,” said Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, Superintendent of Schools. “I recall being a young person and how adults in my life nurtured my talents to help me become the person I am today.”

During the experience, students interacted with professionals from throughout the community, toured the MCC campus, met college students, and asked questions. They also explored careers they already know, as well as many they are discovering for the first time.

Founded in 2005, the Rochester Education Foundation provides programs and resources for Rochester City School District students, including memorable field trips and engaging activities that deepen learning and bring joy to the school day. For more information, visit www.rochestereducation.org
