The Interim Health Academy (IHA)
The Interim Health Academy (IHA) offers classes for students in grades 7 – 12 who demonstrate school avoidance behaviors (e.g., excessive absenteeism) due to acute trauma which has resulted in post-traumatic stress, anxiety, and/or depression. The IHA offers a smaller school environment option for a student whom would otherwise be placed on Home Hospital Instruction because he/she cannot be in a school with large numbers of students.
A goal of the IHA is to return students to their regular school with the skills and confidence to succeed in a comprehensive school setting. Our focus is to help students re-adjust to their regular school environment by providing a supportive, structured setting that combines academic and affective learning principles with psychological counseling. The IHA provides students with core classes, health, and physical education in addition to a few elective courses.
