Preschool Special Education
    The Department of Early Childhood Education provides educational services for children who live in the City of Rochester.  These services are at no cost to parents for all students between the ages of 3 and 5.
    The Department of Preschool Special Education coordinates the educational services of students with special needs. These services may include:
    • Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) support
    • Special class in an integrated or separate setting
    • Related services such as Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Vision services

    Parents can begin the referral process by requesting an evaluation for their child in writing.  Parents may use the template provided to assist them in making their request by clicking here (for Spanish, click here) or parent may write their own letter requesting an evaluation for their child.  It is important that the parent describe the area of concern for their child in the request.  For example: I am concerned about speech.  Parents will need to provide their home address and a telephone number where they can be reached.
