It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of John Walton Spencer School No. 16. I can assure you that I share the school community’s commitment in caring for your children each and every day.
As an urban educator, who has worked within the RCSD for 23 years in various positions such as an Elementary Teacher, an Instructional Coach and an Assistant Principal, I am dedicated and committed to making a difference in the lives of our students and families. I am prepared to contribute my knowledge of expanding the student learning experience and developing a superior educational program for all learners. I have extensive experience in promoting the philosophy of the school’s program, maintaining a safe environment and creating effective instructional practices that improve student achievement. In addition to my role as an educator, I am a mother of three children. I have two sons and a daughter. I look forward to continuing their involvement in our school community.
Although I have always felt at home in the classroom, it is in my most recent position as an Assistant Principal at John Walton Spencer, School No. 16 where I have been most fulfilled in my life’s work. This position has provided me the chance to work collaboratively with teachers on a daily basis, while also remaining connected to young students learning and growing in the classroom. I firmly believe that every child can excel and that the partnership between home and school builds confidence in students to use their powers to shape their future and the future of our community, and our nation.
While serving as the Assistant Principal at School No. 16, I have gained knowledge and insight into the schools’ core beliefs and values. With my goal of continuing the tradition of excellence at John Walton Spencer, I am committed to always exploring new ways to meet the needs of all students and to more effectively communicate with parents and community members. We will be meeting with parents, students, and as a staff throughout the year to identify specific goals in the areas of student achievement, school climate, and parent communication.
I invite you to join me on August 7th from 10AM to 2PM for one of our first Meet and Greet opportunities.
In closing, please know that my door is always open to you. I wholeheartedly welcome your conversation and positive input. Let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes at John Walton Spencer, School No. 16.
Mrs. Lisa Garrow
