Athletics

Welcome to RCSD Athletics

The Athletic Department serves to coordinate and oversee educational-based athletic funding to schools for the modified and interscholastic sports programs for middle and senior high school students throughout the District. It also supports school programs and initiatives, (e.g. curriculum development, equipment purchases, uniforms, transportation, security, technology, etc.) The athletic department remains fiscally responsible by combining teams where necessary, while providing adequate opportunities for participation. The department also works with Section V, keeping them abreast of our sports, the impact on sectional classifications and numbers of new teams that impact Section and State competitions. The Rochester City School District continues in its efforts to improve the character, sportsmanship and academics of our student athletes through many initiatives that affect our spectators, student/athletes and coaches.  The climate of our schools is highly impacted by the support the District provides for our students and the success they experience through sports. Currently, our athletic program consists of 13 schools, 110 modified teams and 210 interscholastic sports teams with over 2,300 student/athlete participants.

The department ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations. It also monitors program effectiveness and accountability through various data collection (e.g. Fitness Gram, BMI (Body Max Index), GPA’s, SHI (School Health Index), and Study Hall etc...) The department serves all RCSD stakeholders in providing services in the area of Health, Physical Education and Athletics, from individual school buildings to district-wide offices, from parent engagement to district operations, instructional supports within schools and across district.
