Proof of District Residency
Proof of residency is required to establish that the student you are registering lives in the City of Rochester. In order to assist the Office of Student Equity and Placement with completing enrollment or transfer of a child to the Rochester City School District, acceptable forms of proof are needed when you visit our placement office. Examples of acceptable proof of residency are listed below for both homeowners and renters.
HomeownersHomeowners may provide a mortgage, closing statement, deed, or city tax bill to prove ownership, or a Homeowner’s affidavit, or any two of the following:- Pay stub
- Income tax form
- Utility or other bills
- Membership documentation (e.g. library cards) based on residency
- Tax bill from the City of Rochester
- Telephone bill
- Insurance bill
- Official driver’s license, learner’s permit, or non-driver identification
- Bank statement
- Voter registration documents
- DSS declaration
- Documents issued by federal, state or local agencies (e.g. local social services agency, federal office of Refugee Resettlement)
- State or other government issued identification
- Other original documents evidencing residency
RentersRenters in the City of Rochester may provide a lease, or Renter’s Affidavit, or any two of the following:- Pay stub
- Income tax form
- Utility or other bills
- Membership documents (e.g. library cards) based on residency
- Tax bill from the City of Rochester
- Telephone bill
- Water bill
- Insurance bill
- Official driver’s license, learner’s permit, or non-driver identification
- Bank statement
- Voter registration documents
