My 11th Grade English Language Arts course of study is directly aligned with the NYS Common Core ELA and Literacy Standards. This course will teach students the skills and strategies necessary to be successful in college or in their chosen career path.
Your son or daughter will learn to read closely, make evidence-based claims about non-fiction and fiction texts and support those claims with strong evidence in their writing. They will learn how to write research papers and develop presentation skills.
Your son or daughter will read a variety of nonfiction and fiction texts and be able to critically analyze and evaluate the content and ideas and develop their own views of the world. Successful students will demonstrate their learning through conversations with peers, through class presentations, and through formal and informal writing assignments. These skills and strategies are directly reflected in the New York State Common Core ELA Regents Exam, which students will take in June.
