•  Meet Ms. Brinkman

Welcome! My name is Ms. Emma Brinkman and I am an ESOL teacher at Rochester International Academy. I started working at RIA in January 2016, as a part of my student teaching for the University of Rochester. I am still a graduate student but also teach ESOL in the elementary school. I have been lucky to work with a lot of different students at RIA, from grade 3 up to the high school.

I also have a degree from Bard College, where I studied Human Rights and Dance. I speak Spanish, and have traveled throughout Mexico and Latin America.

When I am not a teacher, I am a farmer. My husband Ben and I grow vegetables in Farmington, NY. Our farm is called Pachamama Farm. We love to work outside, grow, and cook lots of food with our friends and family. I also love to swim, run, and hike with my dog, Tip.

I am so excited to be a part of the RIA community! My students continue to teach me every day, as I grow as an ESOL teacher myself.
