Below are links to my favorite sites for language learning.
-
Wordreference.com
Wordreference is the best online dictionary I have found as a language learner. They include lots of information about every word (much better than online translators that only give you one word). This website has dictionaries in Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan, German, Swedish, Russian, Romanian, Polish, Czech, Greek, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic. -
Google Translate
Google Translate can translate between almost 100 different languages!Google Translate is NOT a good way to change whole sentences or paragraphs into English! It will not get it right! BUT it is a good way to translate one or two words at a time (especially if you speak a language that is not in Wordreference or other online dictionaries). -
Simple English Wikipedia
Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia that anybody can edit. Many people don't know that there are TWO English Wikipedias--the regular one, and another written in easier English. This is a great place to find articles written in English that is easy to read. You can use Simple English Wikipedia to learn about interesting things or to practice your reading in English.(Look on the left-hand side of the page to find Wikipedia in more than 100 other languages!) -
Voice of America
Voice of America has news stories in lots of different languages. This site--VOA Learning English--has articles that are easier to read, and radio stories with people speaking slowly. Learn about what's going on in the world and practice your English as the same time!
