Zone Reconfiguration Public Hearing and Feedback Period
A Zone Reconfiguration Public Hearing was held virtually on Monday, April 5, 2021 where potential options for rezoning in Rochester were presented. Parents, students, staff and community members are encouraged to provide your feedback about school rezoning. This information will be used by the Zone Reconfiguration Taskforce to help inform their recommendations to the Rochester Board of Education.
School Zone Boundary Reconfiguration
During the 2020 – 2021 school year, the RCSD and the Board of Education have been exploring options to address the District’s current zones in order to ensure that all students are receiving access to the same educational experience, regardless of the school they attend.
Dr. Shelley Jallow, the State Appointed Monitor, is providing academic and financial oversight to the District. As part of her recommendations, Dr. Jallow has proposed a reconfiguration of schools in the District and instructed a taskforce be created to share its information for potential new zone configurations.
Before this task force is convened to provide recommendations, the District needs to hear from all of its stakeholders on issues such as bus travel times, efficient use of current school buildings, and neighborhood schools (boundaries where students attend the school closest to their home).
