What is SETRC?
Special
Education Training Resource Center (SETRC) is a federally-funded,
Statewide performance based network or professional development specialists
who assist school districts in the development, implementation and evaluation
of research validated principles which results in improved student performance.
There are over 40 SETRC locations throughout New York State and most
are based within BOCES systems that serve several school districts and
counties. However, the five large urban areas have a SETRC located within
the city. The Rochester City SETRC serves only Rochester City Schools.
Currently, all SETRC are required to devote the majority (80%) of their
time, energy and resources to a limited number of buildings for three
to five years. This focused, “targeted” support is based
on building data and must include measurable outcomes that align with
the District’s CSPD goals and address needs identified in School
Improvement Plans. SETRC can also provide some training and technical
assistance to “district wide” and regional initiatives.
The New York State SETRC Mission Statement
The
Mission of the SETRC network is to support the NYSED/VESID mission in
preparing students with disabilities for lifelong success through quality
staff development.
