  • Is located in the 19th Ward in the historic Corn Hill neighborhood.


  • as an elementary performing arts magnet, an interdisciplinary program focusing on movement, communication, drama, problem solving, and thinking skills. Students give mini-theater performances and one or two large productions each year. Artist-in-Residence programs are also included.


  • Has a middle school science and technology magnet focusing on mathematics, technology, and the natural and social sciences. The program helps students
    develop scientific habits of mind, technological problem-solving abilities, and useful skills for acquiring knowledge through new information technologies.

  • Uses a team approach in both teaching and learning. Teachers work together to plan and teach the magnet programs; students share responsibility for learning with each other as they work through unique projects and problem-solving situations.

  • Offers an accelerated honors program in mathematics, science, English, social studies, and foreign language.

  • Offers after-school academic activities for students in grades 3-5 three days a week.

  • Uses the Adams Street Recreation Center for after-school activities, and uses the center's pool for a swimming unit in physical education.

  • Uses the neighborhood as a laboratory for fourth-grade social studies.

  • Has a music program that includes instrumental music lessons for fourth and fifth graders and a school band.

  • Has an active Parent Teacher Student Association that sponsors many family activities.

  • Serves Grade K-9.
