Was redesigned in 2003 to strengthen its emphasis on high quality academic and technical education programs.

Consists of four small academies of 500 students each, designed to prepare students for high demand technical jobs. Beginning in 2005-05, these will operate as independent small schools. Students may apply to one of the following for grade 9:
-Business, Finance and Entrepreneurship
-Engineering and Manufacturing
-Skilled Trade
-Imaging & Information Technology

Curriculum reflects labor-market demands to prepare students for entry-level jobs in high growth areas and for post-secondary education

Partners with local businesses to provide internships, work experience, youth apprenticeships, and mentoring in students' field of study.
- Helps students achieve national business/industry certification, college credit, a certificate of employability, and a Career & Technical Endorsement Regents diploma.
- Partners with Frederick Douglass Preparatory School in an exploratory program that introduces students to Edison's technical education programs.
- Offers a Work Experience Program for students with educational disabilities.

Offers students the opportunity to earn the Certificate of Employability, which is endorsed by employers throughout Rochester who consider it when making hiring decisions.

Has local tradesmen and business owners serving as advisors, providing support, materials, technology, and co-op experiences for students.

Extracurricular activities include sports, Biz Kids Business Club, drama club, cheerleading, gospel choir, guitar club, photography club, PRIS2M math and science program, vocational skills competition, food club, and step teams.

Will serve students in grades 9-12 in 2004-05, and will become a 10-12 school in 2005-06
