Pinnacle School No. 35 is located in the Upper Monroe neighborhood, close to Cobbs Hill and Strong—National Museum of Play. School No. 35 has a strong character education program that is important to the development of the whole child as well as the development of a positive learning environment. We are standards-based school with literacy initiatives designed to help students reach local, state and national standards in all academic areas. School No. 35 has partnerships with community organizations as well as parents to create shared responsibility for the success of students. The staff provides an academically rigorous curriculum based on the America’s Choice comprehensive school reform model.

  • Houses three programs: regular education, special education, and bilingual education.

  • Is in its fifth year of using the America’s Choice comprehensive school reform model. This model addresses instruction, assessment, classroom management, professional development, and school management.

  • Partners with Third Presbyterian Church (tutoring), Xerox (grade 4 science lessons), and Junior Achievement (social studies instruction K-6).

  • Student activities include standard bearers (U.S. flag), safety patrol, student council, choir, chorus, library helpers and technology helpers.

  • Holds assembly programs including artists in residence, quarterly awards, and Hispanic Heritage and Black History celebrations.

  • 50-member band is the largest elementary band in the city.

  • PTO sponsors activities for fun and for advancing literacy initiatives. These include reading night, school dance, bingo night, and a student fair rewarding reading in the 25 Book Campaign.

  • Provides computers in three mobile labs and a stationary lab to support web-based instructional programs.

  • The PATHS program and Coping Power program address conflict resolution, emotional intelligence and bullying.
