The learning community of John James Audubon School No. 33 prepares all students for the rigors of high school, challenging those who are meeting standards and helping those needing support to reach grade-level standards in reading and math. To meet this charge, we utilize best practices in school leadership and school culture development. Our comprehensive instructional plan provides a framework for yielding the results we must achieve to prepare our students for success in high school and college and to compete for the jobs of the 21st century.

  • Provides a strong instructional emphasis on helping students meet academic standards in reading, writing, computation, and problem solving.

  • Offers ESOL services to support students learning English as a second language.

  • Dual-Language Program develops student literacy in two languages, English and Spanish.

  • School library acts as an “electronic doorway,” teaching students how to conduct research using the internet and other electronic media. Computer technology and internet access in all classrooms support student learning.

  • Character development activities promote respectful behavior and good citizenship.

  • Saturday School provides additional instructional time in literacy and math.

  • Rochester After School Academy (RASA) involves students in art, music, crafts, and physical activities.

  • PTO meets monthly to promote agendas prepared and implemented by parents.

  • School partnership program includes volunteers from areas colleges, Webster Avenue Recreation Center, Sully Library, Foster Grandparent Program, Northeast Area Development (NEAD), and area Rotary clubs.

  • School-Based Health Center (ViaHealth and Rochester General Hospital) offers health care services to students right at school.
