Nathaniel Rochester Community School is a place for your child to grow from a young child to a young adult in an environment of caring. Students are part of a positive educational, social and emotional community where they can continually grow to be responsible and respectful. Our students, from age 4 to age 16, coexist in an atmosphere of support, encouragement and success. We have the opportunity to “grow our own” and watch them become young adults.
- Music program includes instrumental music lessons for grades 4-9 and a school band.
- The instrumental music program incorporates MIDI (Music Instrument Digital Interface) technology to foster skills in all areas of instrumental music. Together with the expertise of the music teacher, this provides a strong foundation for excellence in performance.
- Children in grades 1-4 have hands-on experience playing string (violin, viola, cello, and bass) and percussion instruments.
- Mentoring for our children with staff members.
- A variety of community volunteers and partners including National Organization of Black Chemists & Chemical Engineers, through which our upper-school students participate in the National Science Bowl (Orlando, Florida.)
- Extracurricular sports for our students in grades 7-9 and intramurals for grades 5 and 6.
- All students, grades K-9, participate in swimming.
