  • Is a preK-6 school located on Orchard Street, near Orange Street, in northwest Rochester.

  • Has an active PTA.

  • Offers a Montessori preschool program, which is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Accreditation.

  • Has a LEAP class for kindergarten through third grade for students learning English as a second language.

  • Has ESOL services for students who need support in mastering the English language.

  • Has three curriculum-specialist teachers who work with classroom teachers to help students meet standards.

  • Has the Accelerated Reader program to advance student reading skills.

  • Has computers with internet access in classrooms as well as a computer lab.

  • Offers inclusion opportunities at all grade levels for students with learning disabilities.

  • Partners with Xerox Science Consultants, who conduct hands-on science lessons in the classroom to enhance students' understanding of scientific concepts.

  • Has a Code of Conduct and a Student Expectations Program which rewards positive behavior and employs strategies to reduce out-of-school suspensions and increase instructional time-on-task.

  • Has the District's only elementary school string orchestra which is sponsored and taught by personnel from the Eastman School of Music.

  • Has a large primary and intermediate vocal chorus.

  • Has a peer mediation team composed of children and staff.

  • Offers Scouting programs for boys and girls.

  • Houses the Orchard Street Community Health & Family Center, which serves the entire community with health and human services in one location. The center is open year round and is the first and only one of its kind in New York State.

  • Houses a dental clinic of the Eastman Dental Center's Department of Community Dentistry, which brings year-round dental services to students and their families.

  • Partners with Charles Settlement House, the Maple Section Police/Citizens Interaction Committee, student teachers from SUNY Brockport, the Rochester Host Lions Club, Quad A, Unity Health, Maple Street Police Department, Kids Cafe/FoodLink, Webster Plank Road South, Asbury Church, Peace It Together (Society for Protection and Care of Children), and JOSANA.

  • Offers tutoring by college students from St. John Fisher and Roberts Wesleyan colleges.

  • Offers a Middle School Prep Program for third- through sixth-grade students sponsored by Catholic Family Services.

  • Participates in Junior Achievement.

  • Offers a full-day City Recreation program in the summer and a morning academic summer-school program.

  • Offers a variety of Quad A sponsored after-school recreational programs Monday through Friday, including MoonBeans To Earth drama, soccer, karate, Hendrick Dance Project, African drumming and dance, and Challenger Program of the Rochester Museum & Science Center.

  • Has a passing rate of 39.4% on the grade 4 English language arts exam (2005) and 45.3% on the grade 4 math exam (2003).

  • Has a 91.4% attendance rate (2003).
