The Pythodd Reunion

Around the 1900's a jazz club called '' Pythodd '' kept Rochester's Third
Ward community entertained . The jazz club was placed on Clarissa Street
in Rochester, New York. At the Pythodd, people performed different types
of music such as R & B, gospel, Latin, and rock music . Years later
that part of Clarissa Street was lost. The spot where the Pythodd Jazz Club
was located does not exist anymore.
The citizens of the Third Ward community never forgot about the Pythodd
Jazz Club. On Saturday August 24 , 1996 a Pythodd Reunion was celebrated
in remembrance of the Pythodd Jazz Club . The reunion took place from 11am
through 9pm .
The Pythodd Reunion had all types of entertainment such as parades,
live music, dancing, games, and contests. The parade took place on Clarissa\
Street, Bronson Avenue and Troup Street .
The entertainers who performed at the reunion were the John Cole's Blues
Band and Rockin' Roz who performed the blues; Los Fabulosos Del Merengue
who performed Latin music; Jadeast and Unknown Funk who performed R&B;
The Brown Brothers, Sons of Faith, Dimension Choir, Mt. Olivet Mass Choir,
and the Jubilators who performed gospel; Todd East performed rock music;
and Vince Tinocchio, William Gould, Terrance Bruce, and Orlando Diaz performed
jazz .
Even Mayor William "Bill" A. Johnson came and enjoyed the
reunion. As soon as the Mayor came to the festival, he went straight to
the ribs.
The Pythodd Reunion sounds like it was fun to attend. This reunion proves
that jazz music will never die .
