Alec Wilder


Alec Wilder was a famous American songwriter. He was born in Rochester and came back here to study music at the Eastman School of Music. He was friends with Mitch Miller. He moved back to New York City in the mid 1930s and became part of the city's musical life. He wrote opera music, ballet music, film music, band music, popular music and much more. He died in 1980 at the age of 73. He is buried just outside Rochester.
