Loretha J. McCullough and Gloria J. Lawton
Parents, Wilson Magnet High School
Loretha J. McCullough, PTSA President, and Gloria J. Lawton, PTSA Vice President, were nominated for their profound commitment to the Wilson Magnet High School community and the entire Rochester City School District.
Both are parents of honors students at Wilson. Mrs. McCullough’s daughter, Shayanna Sims, is in the eighth grade at the Wilson Foundation Academy at the James Madison Educational Campus. Mrs. Lawton’s daughter, Ramona Lawton, is in the 11th grade in the Wilson Commencement Academy.
These two parents work together as a team to support the efforts of the PTSA at Wilson. They were recently honored by both the regional and local Parent-Teacher Associations for working to engage parents in the school community.
“Both of these parents expend a vast amount of time serving and attending meetings regarding District initiatives and are known for their sincerity regarding student growth across the District,” said Renée Turner, a House Administrator at Wilson. “They have also played a role in our violence prevention program and code of conduct initiatives and are willing to partner with teachers, administrators, and other staff to make Wilson a success.”
Together, Mrs. McCullough and Mrs. Lawton set up a PTSA database through which all parents receive regular communications and information. The result has been a revitalized parent organization at Wilson. They also lead meetings effectively, providing vital information to their fellow parents in a focused, well-organized manner.
“Their leadership ability is phenomenal and appreciated,” said Turner. |
