“Students First” T.V. Show Offers Video Training for Interested Students
The Rochester City School District’s Students First television show has volunteer openings available for highly motivated high school students interested in video production and broadcasting.
Working under the guidance of the District’s Communications Department, students gain hands-on experience assisting with video productions including camera operation, scripting, audio production, and editing. Opportunities are also available for students to serve on camera as news anchors.

Students First is a weekly one-hour program presenting news and information about the Rochester City School District, its schools and its students. It airs on:
- City 12 Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
- WBGT channel 40 (cable 18) Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
This week’s Students First program features the following:
- The recent approval of a $20 million advance for the school district by the State Legislature.
- A conversation with members of the Rochester Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning on protecting children from the dangers of household lead.
- Workshops for parents offered through the District’s Parent University.
- A look at a recent double-dutch jump rope event hosted by local Girl Scouts.
- A musical performance from Monroe High School’s production of “The Music Man.”
- Calendar of events.
