School No. 16 Hosts Parent Academy

Classroom demonstrations, instructional strategies, and community partnerships will be among the topics addressed at a Parent Academy being held tomorrow at School No. 16, 321 Post Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Parents will meet school staff and the school’s community partners, visit classrooms for demonstrations of reading, writing, and math workshops, learn about grade-level curricula and instructional plans, and share ideas on involvement. They will also hear a “state of the school” address from Principal Mary Thomas.

In 2004, School No. 16 improved its passing rate on the New York State grade four math exam by 25 percentage points and on the grade four English language arts exam by five points.
