Contract For Excellence Narrative

A presentation on the Rochester City School District’s Contract for Excellence will take place Tuesday, July 7, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at 167 Flanders Street, the Rochester office of the Alliance for Quality Education. The presentation is open to the public and input from the public is welcome.

As part of the New York State education budget, school districts are required to put in place proven, effective programs to raise student achievement. These programs must support students with the greatest educational needs: those who live in poverty, are classified with disabilities, or have limited proficiency in English. In the Rochester City School District, this represents more than 80% of the student population.

In the Contract for Excellence, each school district must explain its plan for putting in place new or expanded programs to meet the educational needs of those students.

Rochester’s Contract for Excellence targets more than $15 million to improve the academic achievement of its students with the greatest needs. Draft version of the contract is available at www.rcsdk12.org <http://www.rcsdk12.org/> .
