Parents and caregivers of children in pre-K through grade six can learn how to maintain effective communication between home and school at the upcoming Parent Leadership Academy being offered by the Rochester City School District’s Department of Parent & Community Involvement.
The academy runs for five Thursdays beginning April 3. Sessions take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Parent Center, 30 Hart Street, in Room 126. A graduation ceremony will take place May 9.
Academy sessions will focus on the power of effective communication as it relates to parent leadership and advocacy for children, financial literacy, and community involvement.

Strengthening the Black Family Series
Information about a new parent workshop series entitled Strengthening the Black Family will be presented prior to the Parent Academy kick-off session on April 3. The informational meeting will begin at 4:15.
The series will focus on effective parenting skills for all families, with an emphasis on raising healthy African-American children. It will begin Tuesday, April 22, 5:30-8:00 p.m., at the Parent Center and will run for 15 weeks.
