The School Choice booklets contain information for parents of children who will be entering kindergarten in September 2008 or who are enrolling in a Rochester city school for the first time.

Kindergarten registration is open to all children who will be five years old on or before December 1, 2008.

The booklets provide:

• Each school available to your child for 2008-2009

• Locations and hours for Parent Centers
  
  
• How to register your child at the Parent Centers

Registration Period:Now through May 20, 2008

NOTE: If you do not register by May 20, you will only be able to choose from among schools in your zone that have space available. Citywide schools will not be available after May 20.

Choosing Your School

• You can select from all schools in the zone in which you live (Northeast, Northwest, South) and from citywide schools open to students from all zones.
  
  
• For assistance in making your school choices and to find out more about the schools that interest you, visit the Parent Center nearest your home.
  
  
• Use the application at the end of this booklet to indicate your school choices.
  
  
• Bring the application to the Parent Center. Registration takes place only at the Parent Center, not at schools.

Parent Centers

You may go to any one of the District’s three Parent Centers to register your child for school. Each center has applications for all three zones of the city.

Customer service staff at the Centers will assist you with every step of the registration process. They can also provide you with more information about the schools that interest you.
