Teacher Incentive Fund Questions and Answers

When PD goes to the Joint District/RTA PD committee for endorsement, how will participants know that the PD is also
 TIF endorsed?

The RCSD/RTA PD committee will determine whether an item meets the criteria for the TIF incentive. If the professional development is listed on Avatar it will be noted if the PD has also been TIF approved.

Should there be a recording mechanism in AVATAR to indicate hours utilized for PDI vs. TIF?

a.  Yes. Hours that are eligible for the PDI may not be eligible for TIF. However, all hours that are TIF approved are eligible towards the PDI.

b.  When teachers register for a PD on AVATAR they will need to select what they would like the hours to count towards, i.e.,
      175, PDI or TIF.

c.  The TIF coordinator will be making a mid-year check with each school to ensure that this is rolling out correctly.

How many hours can be endorsed if presenting?

Presenters may be awarded for hours that they are presenting along with a one time planning session equal to the length of the presentation.  Example: a teacher delivers a PD on using Physical Education to support Common Core standards for two hours on Saturday morning. This teacher may receive 2 hours for presentation and 2 hours for planning and preparation. If this same teacher delivers the same PD the following weekend, he or she is eligible to receive PD credit for the presentation hours, but will receive no additional planning and preparation hours.

Who is eligible to participate in TIF?

a.     Building Subs?  No.
b.     Contract Subs?  Yes.
c.     Job Share?    Yes.
d.     Itinerant between a TIF and non-TIF school?  If teachers are .5 or more in a TIF school they are eligible to participate as
long as they have a total 1.0 position in the district.

Who will endorse PD for principals?

Chiefs will approve TIF hours for principals. A form will be developed for submission for Chiefs’ approval.

Who will be responsible for checking the completion of the TIF hours by principals?

School Chiefs and the TIF coordinator will be responsible for checking.

Who will be giving credit for collegial learning circles?

SBPTs will be approving collegial learning circles for teachers in alignment with the district guidelines on operating a CLC (guidelines to come). Chiefs will be approving CLC for principals.

Who will be responsible for tracking PD? Who will be approving?

All participants will be responsible for tracking their own hours.  Everything must be logged in through AVATAR and endorsed by SBPT if outside of RCSD offerings.

Should there be an intent to work towards TIF? Who would it go to?

Yes. As with the PDI there should be an intent to work towards TIF declared within ePerformance by October 15th.

Do you have to finish the PDI before starting TIF?
