RTI: Response to Intervention is a multi – tiered problem solving approach that identifies students struggling in academic and behavioral areas early and provides them with strategies and targeted instruction at varying levels of support.
The following are the principles behind RTI:

We can effectively teach all children.

We need to intervene early if students begin to fall behind.

We need to use a multitier system of delivery, beginning with the classroom teacher to support students.

We need to use data and a problem-solving method to make decisions.

We need to use research-based, scientifically validated instruction/interventions.

We need to monitor student progress.
-
We use assessment for three different purposes (screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring).
