“Where Media Arts and Communications Technology Are the Focus”
- Provides an introductory communications curriculum that prepares students for careers in media, broadcasting, public relations, digital technology, and print.
- Is a small high school that personalizes the curriculum to student needs, connects families with the small-school environment, and guides students to successful graduation.
- Provides opportunities to earn college credit and participate in apprenticeships with area communications firms.
- Offers advanced courses involving hands-on projects in the school’s on-campus radio/television studio.
- Uses cooperative learning, in which students work in teams to solve problems, and peer mentoring to improve academic performance and character development.
- Uses teacher advisors. Each teacher is assigned a group of 12 students to counsel and guide over a 4-5 year period to ensure progress toward graduation.
- Plans and organizes credit-bearing community service projects for students.
- Partners with community agencies, including Center for Youth Services, to support students in both their academic and social needs.
- Serves grades 7-12.
