School No. 45 offers a welcoming environment for students and families. The school opened in September 1996 and was recognized for excellence in architectural design. It is located on a large campus in the northeast section of Rochester and is easily accessible by bus.
- Literacy instruction is delivered via the workshop model which provides students with direct instruction, a work period to practice new skills and a closing which is an opportunity to share work with their classmates.
- The school is equipped with a computer lab and two mobile laptop carts. 100% of the students at School No. 45 receive computer instruction.
- The Center for Youth is a partner with School No. 45 in our Student Family Support Center. Has a full-time Child and Family Therapist on site.
- Extended-day tutoring opportunities are offered through Dial-A-Teacher and Baden Street Settlement.
- After-school program is offered by Baden Street Settlement five days a week.
- Community volunteers are an integral part of our school community. Partnerships with the Jewish Federation, Bausch & Lomb and the University of Rochester provide tutors for our students.
- The University of Rochester has a Resilience Project at School No. 45 which helps teach children to identify and manage their feelings and supports their success in school.
